IGeL- Information and learning offer for the design of hybrid teaching/learning scenarios

IGeL is a cross-sectional project in the EhLSa university project, which is funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education in the period 2021-2025.

IGeL stands for "Information and learning course the design of hybrid teaching/learning scenarios" and aims to develop a modular digital course that provides university lecturers and tutors with an insight into the possibilities of designing digitally supported teaching.

Based on a needs analysis of the target group, topics such as "inverted classroom", "self-directed learning" and "video design" are addressed in individual learning modules. All modules include information on the (media) didactic background, technical tips for implementation, practical exercises as well as templates and decision-making aids for implementation in teaching. In addition, examples of good practice from various specialist contexts are intended to provide participants with clear support in finding ideas for their own teaching.

The modular offer is primarily designed as a digital self-learning course and expands the further education and training program for teachers and tutors implemented by the Academic Staff Development Office at the University of Wuppertal. In order to reflect on the content of the self-learning course, the modules are interlinked with synchronous workshops; this also enables recognition within the framework of the certificate programs of the Academic Staff Development Office.

Upcoming workshops in the certificate program of the Service Center for Academic Staff Development

In 2025, the workshop program of the Academic Staff Development Office (SaPe) includes four workshops from the project, each of which comprises a self-study unit in the course and a synchronous reflection workshop based on it. These can each be credited with 8 AE. The following topics are offered:

  • ‘Adaptivity in (digitally supported) teaching’
    (Synchronous workshop on 20.03.2025 )
  • ‘Task design in (digitally supported) teaching’
    (Synchronous workshop on 25.03.2025)

  • ‘Test design in (digitally supported) teaching’
    (Synchronous workshop on 04.06.2025)

  • ‘Support for students in (digitally supported) teaching’
    (Synchronous workshop on 06.06.2025)

Past workshops in the certificate program of the Service Center for Academic Staff Development

As part of the workshop program of the Academic Staff Development Office (SaPe), in the workshops 'Feedback in digitally supported teaching', 'Collaborative work in digitally supported teaching', ‘Formulating teaching/learning objectives in (digitally supported) teaching’ and ’Task design in (digitally supported) teaching’ initial project results were tested in a blended learning format and feedback was obtained from learners as part of the synchronous accompanying events.
